Corporate hospitality with a twist

With its majestic hotels, opulent restaurants and glamorous nightclubs, Manchester is the capital of corporate hospitality. We pick three of the city's most exciting venues for corporate dos with added oomph.

Manchester United

Home to one of the most famous football clubs in the world, Old Trafford offers an electrifying corporate hospitality experience, combining top-class football with exquisite food and drink.

There are a number of match day hospitality packages on offer to suit every taste and budget, but they all include a ticket in one of the best seats in the stadium, as well as food, drink and entertainment. The breathtaking roar of 76,000 fans comes with the compliments of the club.

Rooms for hire include the retro-style 1968 Suite, named after the year that Manchester United became the first club from England to win the European Cup; the memorabilia-filled museum, which unfolds Manchester United's rich history; and the TV studio, where you can enjoy fabulous pitch views that are normally reserved for TV presenters and pundits. Match day hospitality prices start from £105 + VAT per person. For more information visit www.manutd.com and go to the 'Match Day Hospitality Section' within 'Tickets and Travel'.

If you are looking for a Christmas family package, why not book to see the Reds play Everton on Dec 23 or Birmingham on Jan 1. The Red Café package includes quadrant seating, reception drink, a three-course meal, match day programme, Manchester United souvenir gift, merchandise voucher, car parking and match day entertainment from £165 + VAT per person ? buy two adult tickets and get two children tickets for free. Santa will make a special appearance to provide the kids with presents at the Everton match and look out for Fred the Red at the Birmingham match on Jan 1.

Manchester Evening News Arena

The world's top selling indoor concert venue hosts some of the most extraordinary corporate hospitality events in the city.

The M.E.N. Arena is always bustling with a diverse range of events, from rock to classical concerts and from world-class sport to family shows, and its hospitality packages allow you to enjoy these events in style.

You can entertain guests in a private executive suite all year round with the Gold package, but access to a hospitality suite is also available on an event-by-event basis with the Silver package (from £185 + VAT per person). The latter includes your own private suite for up to 14 people; a private bar and buffet with waiter service; en-suite WC and cloakroom facilities; souvenir concert programmes; and of course tickets to some of the hottest shows anywhere in the world. How hot, you ask? Well, suffice to say Kylie, Beyoncé and Barbra Streisand are just three of the superstars who played the M.E.N. Arena this year.

Other hospitality packages include the Bronze (from £185 + VAT per person), featuring pre-show hospitality and premium seats in the auditorium, and Concert Club (from £1,600 + VAT for four seats), which includes guaranteed premium seats in the auditorium on an annual basis and access to the sumptuous Halo Premier Lounge for pre-show and interval drinks.

With shows including Kanye West, Take That, Wet Wet Wet, Status Quo and Classical Spectacular coming up this December, there are still plenty of opportunities to impress before the end of the year.

The Museum of Science and Industry

The beautiful 19th century buildings that house steam engines, flying machines and historic locomotives also provide a quirky and very atmospheric backdrop to any corporate occasion.

Imagine sipping champagne beneath the wings of the mighty Avro Shackleton, the RAF's longest serving front line aeroplane, or enjoying canapés around the Beyer-Garratt, the colossal steam locomotive that ran on the South African Railways until 1972.

The museum has a 130-capacity custom-built conference centre, with a soundproofed, air-conditioned auditorium and additional break-out rooms. It also has a stylish restaurant and various small meeting rooms. But our favourite spaces are the atmospheric galleries, where you can entertain your guests in dramatic style.

The Power Hall houses the world's largest collection of working steam mill engines and historic locomotives; the Air and Space Hall features aeroplanes that made flying history; and Manchester Science explores the lives and work of eminent scientists past and present. You can even hire the museum's historical costumed characters to welcome your guests for added atmosphere.

Gallery hire prices start from £800 + VAT and you can find out more by visiting www.msim.org/venue-hire.
