Dave Khan has this place running like a dream – faultless cocktails, groovy tunes, live music and a tremendous restaurant. I have been frequenting this venue for over ten years and always received favourable attention, quality drinks and top-class service – long may Dave's magnificent management reign over this venue.
With the party season almost upon us I would like to recommend my hairdresser to the party crowd of Manchester. After years of 'doing them all' I have found David Rozman and his team to be the cream of the crop! Using only Aveda products coupled with hairdressing talent unsurpassed in Manchester, this is the hairdresser of choice.
How could I talk about the cream of Manchester without acknowledging Matt Potter and Sharon Burns as two of the most influential names in Manchester United (besides the players!). They are both doing a fantastic job putting Old Trafford on the map as one of the most exciting corporate hospitality venues in the world.
I have lived in the city centre for over seven years but on occasion I have needed the services of a hotel! Before you jump to a smutty conclusion I mean with visiting friends, corporate guests or family. Where else would I put my guests but the Mal. The hotel's lovely business development manager, Jill Browton, has never let me down, even when I have called her mobile phone from the kebab shop on a Saturday night!
Having spent seven happy years with 'the Fred Booth Family' at The Printworks, I have seen and touched every event and could quite possibly hold the record for the most cocktails drunk under one roof! Fred has kindly acknowledged my ambassadorial services to The Printworks with the honour of having an award named after me – the 'Iain Duncan Award' will go to one venue per month to recognise a truly outstanding member of staff.
Well it saddens me to announce this is my last 'Man About Manchester.' But as with Sarah-Lou in Coronation Street, I have not been killed off! The Man About Manchester has most certainly been the highlight of my years in Manchester but I am soon to depart to London to the company's flagship – the original cafe on Hyde Park Corner – to do what I do best and that is to swagger around the city posing as the 'Man About London'. I would like to welcome David Atkinson and Michelle Freeman to Hard Rock Manchester – they will, at the drop of a drumstick, look after your every wish. I am off to declare a toast in my honour with a beer and a cocktail or four, as I pack my pens and run for the big smoke!
