Man about Manchester

Walk into any city bash worth mentioning and you will most likely find yourself in the same room as dapper local celeb Iain Duncan. How do you find him? Simple, just follow the camera flashlights darling! Hailed as a style guru in the local press, Iain is our tireless Man About Manchester, scouring the city for all things fresh, fun and fabulous for your eyes only.

Macdonald Manchester Hotel

London Road has never looked so plush. The invite was received, glad rags were donned and with two babes in my arms I was ready for the cocktail party at the new Macdonald Manchester Hotel. We made a grand entrance into the large function room, proceeded to a cocktail bar made of ice and drank copious amounts of fancy drinks whilst dancing like we were attending a family wedding. Liz - your hotel looked fab, but to be honest I was too busy entertaining the ladies to notice much!

Living Room

This very chic restaurant and bar on Deansgate is the only place to be on a Saturday afternoon to start the evening off in style. My evening started with a simple pint with my drinking buddy and lady magnet Matt Potter from Manchester United, when all of a sudden it was five o'clock. Pray tell, what does five o'clock mean? Well, simply it's cocktail hour in my book and that means a constant supply of mojitos all the way down a slippery slope to kebab land. By the time we gave up and moved on to the next venue we almost looked like sprigs of mint.

Panacea

Arriving half twiddled from the Living Room but armed with the ladies we again ordered the mojito - the taste of all things great - and danced for an hour to the tunes of the fab-boo-lous DJ, whilst checking out the clientele. Tits, tans and polished teeth adorned every lady and the world was once again gorgeous!

The Birdcage

By now you must understand how many ladies we have entertained, cocktails we have drunk and how much money we have spent. But we must call in to see Marcus and check if his ladies are happy. The Birdcage on a Saturday night is awesome - great music, great cabaret-style dancers and an enormous number of ladies to entertain you. Could a night on the town get any better?

The Circle

Well, for this gay socialite and his straight, good looking, rugby-type mate Matt, the answer to my previous question is 'yes'. Our final stop was The Circle Club - located in Barton Arcade behind Deansgate. This has remained the venue of choice when you need to hide, refresh and enjoy great music and huge drinks away from the swarm of tourists coming to Manchester every Saturday. Can't really write anything else because by this point I was not too sure of my name, let alone able to take notice of the stylish surroundings or indeed the names of the ladies we were entertaining!

Ikan

I will end this month's little ditty of tales of the city with a chic restaurant on Portland Street I have been introduced to by the lovely Evie Lucas, All About Manchester editor. Here we had two very happy hours with great Thai food and first-class service. I would wholeheartedly recommend it for corporate dos or celebratory meals.
